Welcome to gd models
Every aircraft has a story.
At gd models, we believe that aviation is more than transportation, it's innovation, engineering and history. Our mission is to transform these stories into scale models that collectors can enjoy for generations.
Driven by passion and precision, we are building a brand dedicated to modern aviation, rare aircraft, unique liveries and exceptional craftsmanship.
This is only the beginning of our journey, and we're excited to have you with us from day one.
Every aircraft has a story. We make it collectible.
Why do our models cost more?
At gd models, we know that our models may be priced higher than some collectors initially expect. There is a simple reason: we are a small and independent manufacturer and not backed by a large corporation. Creating a new die-cast model involves much more than producing the finished miniature. Before the first model can be made, a completely new mold has to be developed and manufactured. Tooling alone represents a significant investment, and these costs must be distributed across comparatively small production runs.
We deliberately choose aircraft, airlines and registrations that we believe deserve to exist in 1:500 scale, including subjects that may be too specialised for larger manufacturers.
Our prices also reflect:
- New mold development and tooling
- Relatively small production quantities (in comparison with Herpa)
- Detailed printing and accurate liveries
- Individually designed packaging
- Quality control and product development
- The considerably higher costs faced by a small independent manufacturer compared with mass production
We could reduce costs by producing much larger quantities or limiting ourselves to only the safest and most popular subjects. But that would go against what gd models was created to do.
Our goal is not to be the cheapest model manufacturer. Our goal is to create aircraft models that collectors genuinely want to see with the quality, detail and care we would expect in our own collections.
As gd models grows and production volumes increase, we will continue working to make our models as accessible as possible without compromising the quality and character of our products.
Our current announcement for our current Batch 1 is official (confirmed and the tooling is currently being produced).
Our NEWS Catalog is an Information for collectors on what is coming in the future and not what is available, for available models check out our website!
There will be an official gd models catalog with retail prices coming as soon as the production has been started!
